Computer Requirements

Graphic Design—Minimum Computing Requirements

At BlendAnim School, we train students for real-world careers in 3D animation, rigging, modeling, graphic design, and multimedia production. To succeed in these fields, students need professional-grade tools that match the standards used in today’s studios and freelance industries.

Why an M3 or M4 MacBook Is Required:

Modern design and animation workflows demand speed, performance, and reliability. Apple’s M3 and M4 chips offer powerful CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine capabilities that handle the heavy processing required by:

  • Final Cut Pro (video editing & rendering)

  • Logic Pro (audio production)

  • Blender (3D modeling, rigging, and animation)

  • Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (graphics, layout, motion design)

By using an M3 or M4-powered MacBook, students experience smooth performance while multitasking across design software, rendering scenes, editing audio/video, and managing large creative files—all of which are essential in this program.

Minimum Required Hardware Specifications:

  • Device: MacBook Pro or Air (M3 or M4 chip with 10-core CPU minimum)

  • GPU: 16-core GPU for smooth 3D and video rendering

  • Neural Engine: 16-core, essential for AI-driven tools in Adobe and Apple software

  • Memory: 32GB Unified Memory (64GB recommended) to handle multiple software and large project files simultaneously

  • Storage: 1TB SSD (to store high-res assets, projects, and backups)

  • Display: Liquid Retina XDR (for accurate color grading and detailed visual work)

  • Ports: Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, SDXC slot, MagSafe 3 (for peripherals and backup storage)

  • Connectivity: Strong Wi-Fi required for software licensing, cloud storage, and collaboration

  • External Storage: 4TB external hard drive for project backups and portfolio work

Required Software:

Students must have access to the following professional software tools to meet curriculum requirements and develop a competitive portfolio:

Adobe Creative Cloud Suite:

Used for:

  • Design & Layout: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign

  • Motion Graphics & Video: After Effects, Premiere Pro

  • Web & UX Design: Dreamweaver, Adobe XD

  • Photography & Asset Management: Lightroom, Bridge

Blender:

Used for 3D animation, modeling, and rigging training. Blender is industry-recognized and compatible with professional pipelines.

Final Cut Pro & Logic Pro:

Required for:

  • Final Cut Pro: Editing reels, short films, and motion design projects

  • Logic Pro: Audio design for animations, trailers, and multimedia projects

Why It Matters:

By equipping yourself with the right hardware and software:

  • You ensure compatibility with course content and files

  • You reduce downtime from software crashes or system overloads

  • You develop real-world skills on tools used by professionals at studios like Pixar, DreamWorks, and Sony

  • You graduate with a competitive portfolio that meets current industry standards

How often are the classes held?

Most classes at BlendAnim School meet twice per week. Each course includes a live lecture and instructional session during designated “Class Time.” In addition, many classes offer a separate “Critique Time”—a dedicated session for personalized feedback and assignment reviews.

For smaller classes, critique may be integrated into the regular class time. Students have the flexibility to choose instructors and class times that best fit their schedules. To explore current offerings, visit the “Classes Now Offered” section under the Programs menu above.
